10 Steps to Raise Your Vibration

This year has been a tough one. I think we can all agree on this. Between the pandemic, my dear, Grandmother dying, and our neighborhood being hit by a tornado during a hurricane, I found myself experiencing mild depression. These were all traumatic events and all in a short time. Well, at least it felt that way. Being a yoga teacher has taught me self-awareness and I am now very in-tuned with my emotions. I was deeply affected by all three of these events. The grief over my Grandmother dying was a difficult experience. So when the tornado hit our neighborhood I was already feeling emotionally paralyzed. I could feel how low my vibration was but I am not one to stay in a negative mindset for long. I started taking steps to get out of my lull and feel better vibrationally.

What does it mean to “Raise Your Vibration”? 

Your “vibration” refers to your energetic vibration. We are made of energy. Everything in the world is made of energy, which can be defined most simply as “information that vibrates.” When you “Raise Your Vibration” you are increasing your positive energetic balance. 

Here is a brief understanding of energy and subtle energy:

Thousands of years ago our ancestors saw energy in a way that would be more dismissed in this era. Since they didn’t have microscopes, spectrometers, or other scientific tools they had to use their inner senses. Subtle energy is simply energy that cannot be accurately measured using current scientific methods. Unfortunately, a lot of people believe if you can’t see it or prove it then it doesn’t exist. Subtle energy is tricky to understand. One reason it is difficult to fully comprehend or explain is that science does not understand energy-even in the basic sense. In textbooks, energy is usually defined as the source of power that can be used to accomplish work or a goal, or to crate and effect. Scientific research has proved that everything energetic contains information. Energy also vibrates. In fact, everything in the Universe vibrates and vibrates at its own unique speed. Signs of low vibrations

  • Feelings of sadness or depression
  • Feeling stagnant or in a lull
  • Low energy 
  • Lack of motivation 
  • Lack of concentration 

Causes of low vibrations

  • Trauma 
  • Bad eating habits
  • Toxic relationships and/or living situations
  • Chronic Health issues
  • Loss of a loved one
  • Physical, Emotional or Spiritual Imbalances

 

10 Ways to Raise Your Vibration

1. Giving Gratitude  

Sometimes my eyes aren’t even open yet and I think of things I am grateful for. Things like having a super comfortable bed, air conditioning, loving husband and children, and sweet dogs to cuddle with. 

2. Being in Nature 

I live and breathe all things nature. I love being outdoors and find it to be one of the most healing places for me. Being in nature is extremely critical to increasing vibrations and extremely nourishing to the soul. Things like walking, hiking, bird-watching, standing barefooted on the earth, kayaking, or any activity where you can connect to nature.  

3. Smile 

Put a smile on that beautiful face. Seriously do it see how it makes you feel. You might feel a little like a goober but that puts you in a light-hearted space. A smile can change our brain waves and bring joy back in. It’s such a simple and easy way to instantly feel joy.

4. Giving to others

 Write a letter or send a card to a friend, volunteer at a local shelter or pantry, create a fundraiser for someone in need or surprise someone with a cake. There are so many things you can do to help others. The intention should be to help this person feel special and cared for. I used to pray for God to send me the people that I need and the people that need me. When you focus your time on others it helps you spend less time in your head….sulking. : ) 

5. Being Creative 

Don’t say you are not creative lamest excuse ever. You are creative. You have to connect to your creativity. Find the creativity that resonates with you. Art is not the only way to be creative. It doesn’t matter how you are creative. Being creative allows you to focus on something…to put your energy into good use. I recently signed up for this subscription art box. I love watercolors. I am not great at it but want to get better. I also love writing and would like to make this a more committed practice.

6. Dance

This is such a fun way to get out of a low vibration state. Not only will you create good vibrations but this a form of exercise which leads me to my next suggestion. Check out my Good Vibration playlist…

7. Exercise 

Moving daily is so good and important for our energetic, physical, and emotional bodies. You don’t have to overcomplicate this, go for a walk(in nature), take a yoga class weekly(I know a good teacher), go for a run or work your way up towards running, start with a 15 min workout class a couple of times a week or dancing. Dancing is such a fun and high vibrational way of exercising. Find what exercise you enjoy. You shouldn’t feel like you hate it or are forced to do it. 

8. Eat healthy 

Don’t stop reading yet you’ve made it this far. This is something I am very passionate about. I love food but I hate feeling like shit. I also have an autoimmune condition so what I eat can affect my brain, my gut health, my joints, and my immunity. I am very proud of myself for being good about eating healthy to the point my family makes fun of me. Don’t get me wrong I do still like an occasional sweet treat or a glass of wine BUT I make my sweet treat with whole ingredients and don’t drink very often. The mistake people make is overthinking “eating healthy”. It does require consistency and planning. I also have backups of easy recipes and ingredients that can be thrown together quickly. There is something I want you to think about…eating is not just to satisfy hunger but to fuel our bodies with nutrients. I think about that one line so much and hope you will too. 

9. Connect spiritually 

Spirituality isn’t a religion it’s feeling a connection to something higher than ourselves. For some, this could be nature, and others its God or the Universe. Being in nature is always a great way to feel connected to God or the Universe. Meditation is not only in itself a wonderful way to raise your vibration but a great way to bridge yourself within this place on earth to the spiritual body, whatever that is to you. I probably will end up writing about this in detail because there are so many interesting things to teach on spirituality. 

10. Self-Love

I saved the best for last. Practicing self-love and building a loving relationship with yourself is the most important part of raising your vibration. It can and will change your entire life. Self-love is certainly a constant journey. I continually work on my relationship with myself. Exercise, eating healthy, good relationships, nourishing myself mentally, spiritually, and emotionally are non-negotiable for me. I think it’s important to share when you start to love yourself and truly love yourself you will begin to shift into a higher vibration and when you shift into this vibration you will attract people and things into that same vibration. Let yourself thrive and flourish! Life is about the journey might as well enjoy it.
